I have always loved preparing simple, home cooked meals for my family and friends. In the south of France where I was born, we love tables filled with colorful garden vegetables and sun-ripened fruit. Meal times are a very important part of the day and we spend long hours around the table eating, talking and laughing.
French cuisine often evokes images of "haute cuisine"—great chefs who prepare elaborate, sophisticated foods. My wish is to present to Americans the simple, hearty, home-cooked meals that French people eat every day.
